Modern fire tubes for stylish outdoor areas

A fire tube is more than just a fireplace. It creates atmosphere, brings pleasant light into the outdoor area and becomes a real highlight of any patio or garden.

Gardenflare fire tubes combine modern design with sophisticated technology. They ensure an even flame pattern and are operated with standard wood pellets.

What is a fire tube?

A fire tube is a modern outdoor fireplace in which a vertical flame burns upwards in a glass tube. It is operated with standard wood pellets and ensures an even flame pattern.

In contrast to classic fire pits such as fire bowls or fire baskets, the focus of the fire tube is not on heat radiation, but on the unique flame atmosphere. The flame is clearly visible and protected by a heat-resistant glass tube. Some models, in particular the Gardenflare XXL fire tube, emit noticeable heat in the immediate vicinity, but are no substitute for classic outdoor heating.

Typical for a fire tube is the structure with a closed combustion chamber, a pellet shaft and a glass tube. The pellets gradually slide into the combustion chamber where they are burned in a controlled manner. This creates the even, vertical flame that makes the fire tube so special.
Firepipes are perfect for outdoor areas - especially on patios, in gardens or in outdoor restaurants.

Which fire tube is right for me?

Which fire tube is right for you depends primarily on your outdoor area and the desired flame pattern:

  • If you are looking for a compact solution for your patio or garden, the Classic fire tube with a total height of 1.3 meters is the right choice. It produces a calm flame pattern in a comparatively small space.
  • The premium fire tube with a height of around 1.5 meters is suitable for larger outdoor areas. It produces a significantly larger flame with around 81 percent more flame volume than the Classic fire tube.
  • The XXL fire tube has a total height of 2.15 meters. It is mainly used where the fire needs to be a particularly impressive eye-catcher, for example in outdoor restaurants. The XXL generates around 10 times the flame volume of the Classic fire tube.

FAQs

Fire tubes and fire bowls both create a special atmosphere in outdoor areas, but have different focal points. A fire bowl is more of a classic campfire feeling with an open fire, crackling logs and a rustic outdoor or camping character.
A fire tube, on the other hand, is much more modern and imposing. The controlled combustion of wood pellets creates an even flame pattern with comparatively low smoke development. At the same time, the typical strong smell of smoke that often clings to clothing is eliminated. The high-quality stainless steel finish also ensures robust and long-lasting outdoor use.
If you want to specifically increase the heat output of a fire tube, suitable accessories can be useful. Spark arresters, e.g. for the Classic fire tube, reduce flying sparks and deflect the heat downwards so that it is more noticeable in the immediate vicinity of the fire tube.

A fire tube is no more complicated to use than a fire bowl, but rather simpler and more controlled. Instead of logs, the pellet chute is filled with wood pellets, which slide evenly into the combustion chamber where they burn evenly.
Lighting is carried out with fixed lighting aids and is completed in just a few steps. A stable flame develops after a short time. The assembly and commissioning of the fire tube are explained in just a few steps on our help page .
Compared to the fire bowl, there is no need to add logs and regularly stoke the fire. This makes it less time-consuming to use on a daily basis.

A fire tube is operated with wood pellets, which slide into the combustion chamber via a pellet chute and are ignited there. This even supply creates a calm, vertical flame that develops upwards in a controlled manner.
The glass tube protects the flame while ensuring that it remains clearly visible. This creates the typical even flame pattern that distinguishes a fire tube from open fireplaces.
The burning time can be controlled by the amount of pellets filled in. Depending on the model and filling quantity, the fire tube usually burns for between 75 and 90 minutes.

The Classic or Premium fire tube is the right choice for most gardens. Both models offer a good balance between flame pattern and size.
The Classic fire tube is particularly suitable for small to medium-sized gardens or patios. It requires little space and can be used flexibly on firm and level ground.
The premium fire tube is the right choice if you want the flame to be more prominent or if you have more floor space. It creates a more intense flame pattern and has a greater overall presence.
The XXL fire tube can be useful for large gardens or spacious outdoor areas. It is mainly used where the fire is deliberately intended as a central eye-catcher.

In principle, a fire tube can also be used on a balcony, provided there is sufficient space and the local conditions allow it. The fire tube may only be used outdoors and not on covered balconies.
For smaller balconies, the Classic fire tube or alternatively a Table fire is more suitable, as both variants require less space and are more compact. A stable base and sufficient distance from walls, furniture and other flammable materials are also important here.

A fire tube is designed for outdoor use and is made of robust materials such as stainless steel. The fire tube should only be used in dry weather. Rain or strong weather influences can impair combustion.
For a longer service life, we recommend protecting the fire tube from the weather when not in use. The Classic cover and the Premium cover are perfectly matched to the respective models and provide reliable protection against rain, dirt and scratches.

When in operation, a fire tube produces a steady hissing sound that is created by the chimney effect. This noise is clearly audible and is part of the normal operation of the fire tube.
